Frank, One of the saddest facts of life is that, sometimes, the most skilled/influential practioners of some craft are largely forgotten. I see this in may areas of endeavor and at times it makes me cry. But such is life... One reason that this sad situation is so true of the British bicycle business is that (as you imply) a number of these fellows did much of their work as contractors, so someone else's name is displayed on the bicycles' frame tubes. At least some of these fine builders are getting a little credit due to postings such as yours; and the rest of us are learning to look for the frames built by these artisans. Cheers, Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia (USA)
