Subject: [CR]Arthur Metcalfe and MM Cycles

I'm looking for info on a frame I just bought. It is an "Arthur Metcalfe" made by "MM Cycles". It's a lovely frame. I'm quite excited about it.

Looking at the CR website I see info on "MKM Cycles" in which Arthur Metcalfe was a partner, but no info on "MM Cycles".

My frame looks much like Tom Adams' MKM <http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British/MKM/mkm_T-Adams.htm>. But mine appears to have its original paint and decals.

Here's the scoop on mine:

Serial#1823 Seat tube 64cm ctc (I love it! A frame actually big enough for me!) "Arthur Metcalfe" decal on the downtube "Tour de France" decal on the top tube Two decals on the seat tube, one says "MM Cycles Harrogate" the other says "Hand built by MM Cycles Harrogate Tel: 63840" Head Badge is nearly identical to the one on Tom Adam's bike saying "MM Cycles LTD Harrogate" Prugnat lugs Campy dropouts

Does anyone know:

1) When frame #1823 was built? 2) Whether MM Cycles came before or after MKM Cycles? 3) How did the Tour de France model compare to others? 4) In light of recent chatter, suppose I should ask whether these folks are northern or southern builders!

Any other relevant info will be much appreciated!

Thanks,

David
