<<The frame is undoubtedly a Nishiki Pro (might've been called the ONP Pro) circa @1977 - 1978. Note the NP in the BB I.D. stampings and the tell-tale cut-outs that are featured in the ads they used to place in Bicycling, etc. The frame was originally a "Champagne Gold" color that was popular at the time, and it had lt. blue decals.

These frames were definitely a cut above the run of the mill Japanese frames of the time, although the lugs and especially the bottom bracket shell are cheap stampings. Tubing was good quality Tange Cr-Mo double butted. Geometry was the typical 74 degree seat/73 head angles on all the sizes - which was a standard Japanese practice that derived from trying to take what worked well in the 51-54cm sizes and simply make the tubes longer for the bigger sizes. It took a loooong time before they figured out (or accepted) that the design for a bigger frame is NOT the same as the small ones.

Not a bad frame - but nothing special IMHO.

Happy 4th, Mike>>

Well-there you have it! Once again the CR membership,(including the Listmeister Himself-Attaboy Dale) comes through in record time.Great thing, this list.Ask a question, get an informed answer, maybe fill in some missing pieces for those of us younger listees who haven't seen them all from back in the day.
