My word. Who'd'a thought?
2700 bucks and counting.
Two things come to mind here, neither dealing with the current bid on that frame (far be it from me to question anyone's sanity when it comes to paying too much for a bicycle frame...although, that said, are these things THAT rare?? Looks like a garden-variety italian-style British racing frame... looks a lot like my Falcon San Remo actually.. but whadda I know)
1) one of the bidders has precisely one transaction on ebay. This would concern me, were I the other bidder.
2) This auction is a perfect example of why e-snipe was invented. This auction is also a perfect example of what's wrong with the 'bay. At a real auction, the last thing you do is give away how much you're willing to pay. On ebay, that's essentially what you do if you don't use e-snipe, or something similar. You end up paying the maximum. Assuming you win the auction, of course. Why give away your interest in something, and then pay more than you have to? Make no sense to me at all.
If one of these two guys had been smart enough to bide their time and use e-snipe, neither would end up risking paying so much money for the item. Instead, they're in a pissing-contest. Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt, and I'll never do it again. It's just macho-stupid.
And if one or both of you are here on the list, I apologize for my bluntness, but not for the sentiment.
