Thanks, Sheldon, somehow I was afraid that would be the answer. Guess I should actually check how many brands that I use have this thread, then decide how many M8 x 1.25 I am likely to use. I guess I just found one more reason to like Nitto.

The M8 thread is pretty common in Asian stems, but I've never found a European stem that used any identifiable standard threading.
