To all of you that heard my yesterday's rant about Renaissance Cycles formerly located in Holland, I must recant my critique. There is no question that Baron is honest, and that was not part of my original complaint. There is no question that Baron was friendly and non-threatening. Baron also warned me that Holland has a special problem with American inspectors going through all packages from Holland to search for contra-band hashish and marijuana (as if this posed any serious threat to our country). He warned me that this might cause delays of a month, but the sad truth is that the delay is of about two months (The crank arrived today). He did send the crank to me WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD! He committed no business offense other than not to check his phone messages nor his e-mail. At first I grew annoyed that I could not get an e-mail response, and than later I grew frantically frustrated that neither phone nor e-mail was achieving a response. I would imagine that when one relocates to another country (welcome back) there are opportunities to be out of touch. I will contact him to apologize today, but to all those who might have been led to have a less favorable view of him, please cancel in your minds anything which might lead you in that direction... (every list member who did contact me, said that something must have occurred which was beyond his control, so his reputation remains favorable). I learned years ago that all problems both work related and marital can be solved with good communication. (I want to talk everything out, but my wife wants to retreat when there are conflicts). In this case, if I could have had any communication over that last two months I would have been happy, and circumstances conspired against this.
The crank is what was promised and will be an important part of my latest project bike. Also thanks to Dale, whose initial assessment of the situation bore more truth than I would have believed.
