Subject: [CR]Simplex derailleur hanger

Hello all. I'm looking for an older style braze on rear hanger for an early 1950s Simplex derailleur. If any one has an old drop-out with one attached, a hacked off one lying in a drawer or even an unused one (!) I would be interested in purchasing it. This is to help in the restoration of a 1952 Gillott frame. The rear Agratti dropouts did have a derailleur hanger brazed on at one time but it was crudely hacked off. I'm assuming that it was a Simplex because a double pulley wheel - which research on this archive shows to be for a Juy 53 (front derailleur) -survives brazed on to the BB. I'm assuming that the rear would have been a Tour de France or a Juy51(?) I'm not quite sure what the early Simplex hangers look like so if any of you have an image without a derailleur attached or a link to one that would also be helpful. I believe they had a threaded hanger with no 'stop' The frame is also missing the shifter braze on, this too was hacked off and i can see from the 'foot-print' that it was a Simplex. Barry Witcomb who is doing the repairs to the frame has a shifter braze-on, but did the braze on bosses for the double shifters needed for the Juy 53 differ from the standard?

I would love to get this frame restored to original condition, even if I can't afford a Juy53 to hang on it.

Thank you. Simon Bird, London, England.
