If anybody has any ideas of how else to ship to Austrailia after reading this email, please reply offlist.

I recently sold a complete bike to down under, and after going to DHL, Fedex, and UPS and getting outragious shipping quotes of $600 -$700, I called USPS and asked for a quote for two boxes going to Austrailia, both at 108" combined total size which supposedly is thier limit, and I verified with person I was talking to. I was amazed to get quotes of about a total of $280, and double checked by calling another Post Office and recieved the same numbers.

Needless to say, I brought both boxes to the Post Office today and it turns out the maximum size box to Austrailia is not 108" as qouted, but 79" for Global Express 4-6 days, as well as shipping by ground/boat in 4-6 weeks etc. The only way to ship anything up to 108" to down under is by Global Express Guaranteed which gave me the total cost of $583.

Has anybody shppied to Austrailia lately, and what were the results or cost if you shipped a complete bike.
