Correct. Regina made a freewheel vise that clamped onto the outside threads, to let you take that last cog off. I used to have one, don't know what happened to it, but it usually isn't needed. You can leave pos.3 on to take 4 and 5 off, then put the new 4 and 5 on, then use those to get 3 off. At no time did you have all the cogs off at once, but you changed all 5 of them.
