Larry Osborn (of "The Osborns") kindly scanned his early-60s Dawes catalog, which I've put up on the web at http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/Dawes'64/

I'm guessing at the date based on the existence, on different models, of both Valentino and Gran Sport derailleurs. Valentino started in '64 and Gran Sport ended in '63, right? Though it no doubt was available for some time after that.

Great model names; RealmRider and Debonair are two of my faves.

The front cover says "Get your pleasure out of DAWES" - are they saying they don't like the kind of pleasures one gets indawes? <Ouch!>

Those were simpler times...
