As a CR listmember that lives in N. Calif, I'm likely to attend the show. In regards to shutterbugs, my only concern about pics is that flashes can be irritating. Why not compromise and allow pics but nix on flashes? If lighting is good, a decent camera will still produce a decent pic (sometimes better). Another option is to allow photography, with or w/o flash, but only during a limited period like immediately before or after the main show. You can even charge extra for this priviledge. Or, you can hire a pro to make a photo album of the show. Can anyone say, future collectible here?
