The Crossroads Bicycle Festival will happen in and around nearby Statesville at the end of this month.
Slowly building momentum over it's 5 years, this event is taking on a new focus and fascination for those who are interested in bicycle history and the earliest days of mountain bikes. This year is really hitting the big time!
MTBs, the uniquely USA development, will be represented at this event by luminaries of the start up era Ross Shafer of Salsa Cycles, Paul Sadoff or Rock Lobster, Joe Murray, earlier racer, inventor & Voodoo cycles, and the irascible Jaquie Phelan, racer & Cunningham pal. These folks will present seminars on Sat the 27th.
Sunday AM will see a 35 or 65 miles road bike ride and a Bike Show & Swap meet. There will be all sorts of old & new, contemporary, classic, vintage bikes and goods... The fun approach is to do the ride & then come back and enjoy the swap meet & bike show! Admission to this last is free and spaces to sell bike stuff are $25 @.
Monday will see an informal single track MTB ride...
