"Hi all This information may be a bit basic, but with all the posts re genuine Team bikes from Ilkeston, whether 531 or 753, one fact may have been overlooked. A genuine Ilkeston frameset has a black head tube whilst all

the other non Ilkeston frames had a yellow head tube. Unless they have

been refinished of course. Mike (with a black head tube bike)Mullett Reading UK"

Really, Mike??? That's a new one on me. Check out Eric Elman's SB1 9 on my Yahoo group... it has a yellow head and is all original paint. My SB128 has a black head. It was my understanding the black head was introduced at t he beginning of the 1974 season. So there were clearly some yellow head machines coming out of Ilkeston at the onset of production there.
