On the topic of nice racks, Mariposas and such...

I just (last week) returned from vacation in Canada, where we had been camping while circumnavigating Lake Superior -- not on bikes, unfortunately, but I did notice a substantial number of fully loaded tourists on the Canadian side of the lake. Many were riding off-topic mountain-type bikes, but a surprising number were on vintage steel touring bikes. In contrast, on the American side we only saw one or two loaded tourers (more than a few unloaded riders, though).

Perhaps our Canadian members can tell me if there is a resurgence of popularity in loaded touring in Canada? The price of gasoline being ~$1.00/liter certainly could help explain it, I guess.
