Is it considered proper etiquette to thank each and every respondent with a reply email? Some (many?) of us may receive many emails a day and a thank-you may be considered superfluous and time-consuming. Also, I can see it getting ridiculous with "thank you" and "your most welcome", blah, blah, blah. Obviously, if someone takes the time to write you a 3-page history of wingnuts, I would certainly reply with a thank you. But if 10 people say the answer is 3 mm, is an individual thank you necessary? What happended to TIA (Thanks in Advance) on signoffs to preclude this problem? I don't remember seeing it used on this list that much. >>

Good point and thanks Jack. While well motivated and charged with kindness, the thanks do clog up the works and weigh heavily on the whole list's time, so let's dispense with those please. A direct, off list thanks I guess would not be bad (?)

Thanks (oops) Dale
