Yesterday I posted a message to the list that I really regret, full text below.

Lotta cool stuff there all right, but they forgot to acknowledge the source of that Teledyne brochure image. Steve Kurt that is, who did the scanning. I doubt Steve is touchy about it, but I like to give him his propers. (Check out the original at http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/Teledyne/ - same number of pixels and bytes, same creases and splotches.)

The glaring problem with that is it seems like I am criticizing Bobby Sapovits for "stealing" my image, which I definitely did not intend - all the images on my site are free for anyone to use, for anything. With the caveat that I don't own many of them, and you could be in the same trouble I am in if you use something that the copyright owner doesn't want used.

Yes, I have tons of stolen images on my site, most of which I don't remember the original source for and don't give any credit for. That's why my post was so stupid and embarrassing.

The main reason why I "steal" images is because they seem likely to not last on the web - eBay auctions in particular - and I want to archive them. I bet that has resulted in some being there that the owner wouldn't want used that way. I sure hope anyone offended by any image being on my site, whether they own it or not, will let me know. If there's anyone who has been quietly steamed about this, I sincerely want to hear about it. Though the website is just a hobby and quite amateurish, I am willing to try to make it better; please feel free to comment - probably off-list is best.
