Good chrome plate is an excellent corrosion prohibitor. Not as good as thic k paint, but far more durable and abrasion resistant. Without being specific

:^) I'd say some generalizations can be drawn about chrome quality by country of origin of our classic bikes. I've found that on-topic Campagnolo

brake calipers and cranks are pretty darn corrosion resistant with the anodizing removed and polished. I live maybe 3 miles from the salt water,

your results obviously may vary. This all solely on my personal anecdotal
