Subject: [CR]Be careful with solvents and things...they can get serious in a hurry

I have posted before about my illness a few years ago incurred while polishing with a Dremel tool and Semi-chrome without a mask...darned miserable. However it can get worse. I had some brass andirons with decades of wood smoke staining them black many years ago and proceeded to clean them with Muriatic Acid. I was young and foolish and, of course, invincible. I was in a corner of a basement working over a plastic container of the acid when I felt it was getting pretty strong. I went to get up and take a break. I stood and the whole world blurred and spun and I hit the floor heavily. I remember laying there thinking "This is how people die". I managed to crawl away on my hands and knees, and was perhaps fortunate I stood up (However briefly) when I did. Hopefully the CR membership is smarter than I was in my 20s, but do be careful with chemicals folks, they can get serious in a hurry.
