Last note about using Simple Green to clean vintage grease off aluminum parts. I can attest ... even half strength with water, which is what I use, will discolor your anodized aluminum if left in too long ... not just full strength. Also, some paints used to fill in pantographs and the like can be softened and scrubbed out, so be careful there too.

WD-40, Isopropyl Alcohol, and Simple Green all work well, depending on the age and build up of grease and oil. Be careful with the Simple Green though. Anodizing can be damaged if parts are left sitting too long in full strength Simple Green.
