Hi CR folks and Colorado friends...

There seems to be a lot of interest in an alternative event

But - reality is that it is pretty short notice to get a major event going that will have some appeal. My concern is that we just get 20 of us together and we each try to get the other guy to take our pile - a swap really needs 100 plus folks or more to really kick in.

My suggestion is as follows. Lets all go to the Denver Veloswap - and I'll coordinate some late-day poll taking where we will ask a bunch of the individual type vendors that are there if they would support an alternative event for smaller scale sellers sometime in the future.

Then, I'll decide with the help of the gang if we should try to organize an event for the future. My thought is I'd like to do something pretty big - but aimed specifically at keeping it homey for everyone involved. I also want the event to really be a revenue generator for the non-profit bike organizations. My feeling is that the Veloswap show doesn't do justice for these groups.

Now why is this whole thing important? Becasue my guess is that there are a lot of vendors with cool stuff that just don't go to Veloswap anymore. I'd love to see an event where really cool stuff comes out of the woodwork!

So the event I imagine would be New stuff and Old stuff. And since it would be our event, we could have a really nice vintage component to it as well.

So does this make sense to take it slow, do some research, then do something really well down the road? Let me know.

Also, if I did help build a super nice vintage event around the date of Veloswap, I think it would be unfair to Chucks show in California. Unless it is unavoidable, there should not be two cool vintage events the same month.

Since Dale's show is later this year, what about an event in Colorado in late February or early March?
