Looking at the CR page for Benotto, there is a good representation of a c. 1974 Model 3000 and a nice pic of Mr. Benotto with a c. 1984 Model 3000. If you bike was 1974, it would have the long dropouts, minimal braze-ons, etc. like the Benotto (regardless of whether it was Benotto or DeRosa). Still, the c 1984 mod. 3000, which is very close to the vintage of your bike, is ceratinly not the same. There's no reason that I know of not to think that it is a specially-built frame, possibly built for a team. I just have to wonder if it wasn't built by Benotto.
