Being overlooked here is the possibility that the bike frame (late '70s) could have been repainted with its current paint scheme in the '80s because the owner always liked Moser's Benotto/De Rosa team bike and his De Rosa frame needed repainting anyway (they used the SLX sticker because it was handy?). Twenty-five years of use is plenty of time to develop a patina on an '80s paint job I'd think.
