I picked up a mid/late 70's Proctor Townsend (Brad Proctor and Bob Townsend, are retired, from framebuilding, Canadian bike makers) frame and fork last week. I showed the frame/fork to Bob Townsend and mentioned replating the scuffed up fork, to which he cautioned that the chrome removal process can be damaging to the silver solder that they used. I had never heard that before and am wondering if it is accurate, or cautionary at best?
Thanks,
