Geoff It seems to me that here must have been a number of bike painters in Australia with this level of ability. Malvern Star had manufacturing plants in most of the major cities, each presumably requiring handpainting skills.

If Ray Greenslade painted for Super Elliot, I guess he lived and worked in Adelaide. There is a stunning example of some Melbourne hand painting on a Cecil Walker on currently on ebay: http://ebay.com/<blah>

One thing that fascinates me about Australian & New Zealand frames is the way that outdated frame components remained in use long after they had gone out of fashion elsewhere. Assuming that this frame has not been upgraded, it has 1940s lugs and D-shaped forkblades, but more modern Zeus dropouts.
