Nothing so unusual... this is the cutout that appeared on all '68 and most '69 Masis...

No, they are different. Look at the head tube... these are the (rare) lugs with the side windows that were used for a short period in '69-'70. I am not sure of the name of the lugset, Quinticiclo or something like that? Charles Andrews has a beautiful example of one of these frames which he is building up as we speak. I believe this frame may be older than his however... Charles' frame has the later cutout design of six transverse ovals (as does another example found by Matteo with a 5-70 steering tube stamp).

This bike is definitely a Special. Also, would have had "Brevettata" instead of "Brev Masi" on the chainstays.

Nice bike... hope someone frm the list grabs it.
