On this topic of Ebay scams, I received a second chance offer within about ten minutes of coming in second on an auction. The length of time between the close of the auction and the seller contacting the "winner" and that person not paying seemed a bit short, to say the least. When I checked the winner, I looked at his past auctions. All of them had been on the current seller's auctions.

After discovering that, I did not respond to the second chance offer. The item, a Stronglight crankset, appeared several more times, not selling, then finally sold for about the same amount that I had bid.

Hi Tom: I presume you reported that seller to eBay for suspicion of bidding on his own auctions? It's important to do that in cases such as those, otherwise it's tough for eBay to catch these crooks. Please let us know the item number, or the seller involved, so we can check it out ourselves, also.... Greg Parker ever wary, but not afraid, in Ann Arbor, Michigan
