World Amateur Road Champion, Giuseppe Martano, 1930
http://www.wooljersey.com/
20-years-old Italian Giuseppe Martano wins the 1930 World Amateur Road Race Championship in Liège, Belgium, ahead of Eugenio Gestri (Italy) and Rud Risch (Germany).
Anyone know if this is the same "Martano" as in Martano rims?
Martano would turn pro for Frèjus in 1931, return to the armature ranks in 1932 and win the World (armature) Championship for a second time, turn pro for Frèjus again in 1933 and place 3rd in the Tour de France, finish 2nd in the TdF in 1934, and place 2nd in the 1935 Giro d'Italia.
I'd love to find a better image of this finish area - notice the massive
striped arches in the background.
