Speedometers were quite popular in France in the 1930s and 1940s.
Some of the bikes in the "Image Archive" on the VBQ web site are
equipped with them. You see them on otherwise superlight Alex Singers
and similar bikes.

Does anyone collect the old 1970s bike speedometers/bike computers? I have one of the first bike speedometers with the sweeping dials on it for cadence and speed. It really looks primitive by today's standards, but quite cool for a vintage restoration. I remember when I used to ride with John Howard who was on the Raliegh National team, and he often used this model. If anyone knows where I can find some pictures of them, or would like to see mine, I can send a picture.
