at witcomb london, we used to send campagnolo parts to to plater for black chrome or anondizing, as the case may be. if these parts got on a bicycle, or were sold, folks might think they were factory stock.
this was 1972. go figure.

also i.m.o. I find the veracity of any claim of black first gen campi cranks, even back-shop-plated 40 years later.......dubious (but thats just me, being a San Jose native I find most of those Palo Alto posts amusing as heck, but consistently incredulous nonethess)
