The VBQ web site shows a Cinelli Supercorsa bought from Spence Wolf/Cupertino in 1965, which is equipped with "No Record" hubs. This seems to corroborate Don's data, but of course, when the Cinelli's hubs were made is anybody's guess.

I recently overhauled an Herse Demontable (take-apart bike), with original equipment Campy "Record" hubs. On the rear, one locknut (or is it the cone?) was stamped 68, the other 70. It appears the spacing had been changed with an extra washer, so maybe somebody "chez Herse" mixed up locknuts during reassembly. The bike dates from 1971, by the way...
I agree with Chuck on the "date of locknut manufacture." In fact, it would be interesting to see whether there are gaps in the years on the locknuts (and derailleurs), because Campy had left-over stocks that lasted them more than a year...

Incorrect Don. The Campagnolo does not say "that "No Record" hubs were dropped from the catalogue in 1963." There was a catalog printed in 1960 (#14) and then again in 1967 (#15).
Here's the entry: 1963 - In October the Record rear derailleur (chrome plated bronze) is introduced. This has a revised cage shape with the pivot behind and closer to the jockey pulley and center punched rivets. The word "Record" is added to the hub barrels. Thicker heads on seat post adjusting bolts.
This does not necessarily mean that every Record hub that left the factory after 1963 had "Record" stamped on it either. The date on the locknut is just an indicator of what date the hub _might_ have been manufactured (I believe it is absolutely the date the locknut was manufactured).
But you are correct on your point that there might be a flaw in the Campagnolo Timeline Don. Actually, many flaws. The Timeline is a work in progress and always will be.
