Thanks, Don. You know, I can't understand the problem folks seem to have with Campy sidepulls. Even now some folks rave about the dual pivot brakes as being world's better than single pivot sidepulls. Except for possibly having a return spring that was stiffer than necessary, Campy NR/SR sidepulls worked fine for me. I could get everything from a slight rim-touch to a full hard lockup with them. For a chronic wheel-sucker like me, brake touch and feel was vital to my survival. I've raced with Campy, Dura Ace EX and Modolo single pivots with equal success. Okay, I wasn't a very successful racer, but I certainly can't blame my brakes for that!

i loved your post, thanx for sending it to the CR list.
Many of those "cool then but not so cool now" things are exactly what i did in the mid-70's to my raleigh grand prix (except i always liked the centerpull brakes, even though i got a set of campagnolo sidepulls in 1980 on a paramount, i concluded that they sucked compared to centerpull brakes ... but oh did they ever SUCK IN STYLE !!!)
