Quick follow-up to all that wrote on and off list with various suggestions to my stuck dustcap dilemma. The dustcap has been successfully removed and as usual, I am grateful to this list for all the help and support. In all, 18 people wrote with suggestions! The technique I used is the one John and a few others suggested (see below).

My apologies to all for not responding sooner nor individually. Around the time my email query went out, my son Aaron broke his elbow and the week has been a bit of a disaster. Luckily he will be fine but required seeing all sorts of specialists, MRI's, etc. before the Dr's finally decided/agreed on a course of action resulting in surgery yesterday as it was a really nasty break. No, he did not break it while riding a bike; it was when he was skateboarding. He was wearing a helmet, knee and wrist guards but I've never felt the need to have him wear elbow guards - parents take note, the guards help as he surely would have broken a wrist too if not for the protection of those guards!

Thanks again,

Eric Elman
