I'm taking delivery on a circa 40s-50s 650B French ladies bike. Its made by an obscure builder (Ondet?). Despite being a mixte frame, the bike is very light and was built up using high performance components of the day. It originally came with a wheelset built around Maxicar hubs. The wheels were not included with the purchase.
I need to build a wheelset, but I dont want to spend more on the correct 40s era Maxcars than I spent purchasing the Ondet. What would be the alternatives to 40s or 50s Maxicar? Would anyone have such a hubset for sale or trade? I need 36 hole.
