I'm missing something here: why does a sniping service do much more for you than eBay's own bidding mechanism, except submit your bid(s) at the last moment?
Your maximum is your maximum, unless you increase it, either you win - or somebody else has a higher maximum!
My idea for 'improving' eBay was to extend an auction by a few minutes after the last bid - so others can respond to snipes with some time in hand, if they choose to, by watching 'live' at the end of the auction ...
The seller gains, potentially, and so does eBay as it gets a percentage: isn't this usually how auctions are structured, not biased towards the buyer? I posted such a suggestion on eBay once and got right royally shot down in flames!
