Hi CR folks, A vintage tandem wheelset built by the legendary Spence Wolf... Sorting through stuff I found an intersting old wheelset. It is a 700c 48 spoke tandem wheelset with Super Champ clinchers (mod 58?) that are tied and soldered and with a Spence Wolf sticker and with a Phil Wood disc brake on the rear. The stuff looks to be almost unused (front has a tire on it, I think it was used just a bit but virtually no sign of brake rub on rim). Rear looks really fresh. If used, probably just a mild day or two of use. There is a Suntour 5sp freewheel mounted. The rear Phil brake assemble does have an issue. There are parts that mount onto the outer grey flange which I believe cradle the stay to hold the brake unit stationary and also serve to anchor the cable. These bolt-on parts were modified (welded) and a mounting screw(s) is also missing. The big aluminum plate itself was probably from another project or the victim of nasty installation since it has some nasty marks from scary installation. Since the the hardware issues are with bolt-on stuff, it should be easy to make the hardware right - and you have a wonderful set of wheels built by the legend himself in near-new condition. The wheels themselves seem extremely true and amazingly nice. The spokes are DT. Price for these wheels shipped in the US by FedX ground will be $219. First come first served. Mike Kone in Boulder CO
