Hello Fellow CR members:
I wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I have been an avid bike guy
since I was 6 or 7. By the time my early teens rolled around, I was buying
used bikes and 'refurbishing' them to be offered for sale in the Washington
Post classifieds. Income from these efforts and a lot of lawn mowing allowe
d
me to save enough to buy a used Holdsworth Pro--my first real bike. The use
d
bike business brought me into contact with Larry Black who then managed
Georgetown Cyclesport in Alexandria VA. After buying and selling a few of
the shops used bikes, Larry convinced me to work for him at the shop doing
the same thing. I worked there during High School and trained under some
pretty smart bike wrenches. At some point I sold the Holdsworth to my
younger brother and acquired a spiffy SW Cotten. I continued working as a
mechanic through college and law school. Over the past few years I have
returned to 'playing with bikes' and now have boxes full of obscure and not
so obscure parts and a shed full of rims and wheels. I know a few local guy
s
on the list and have consulted the CR archives to answer questions or read
up on interesting topics. I have a relatively small stable of bikes: the
Cotten, a Holdsworth Pro, a recently acquired Pogliaghi, a Merckx track
bike, a Colnago Super, and a date unknown but certainly KOF lugged steel
Keirin track bike. Take care all and thanks for having me.
