Well, sorting through 58 pics leads me to a couple of conclusions: I'm a poor photographer, down loading that many pics is a big pain, and I didn't take enough of em. :-) And I swore this year I'd bring a note book to write down names to go with bikes, but forgot again. I apologize for not giving credit to the owners for all the great bikes that were there. My memory is so bad I can't even remember that I won't remember.

I came to ride, and was rewarded with four great days atop my restored Major Nichols. Neat bikes were everywhere, being piloted by neater riders. I was going to attempt a comprehensive report, but there's just too much of it. You hadda be there. Buy me a beer, and I'll be happy to fill you in.

Just a few highlights though: Mike Schmidt, self and Pergolizzi wrestling to get three bikes into a Crown Vic's trunk for the Thursday ride ("Do we really need a spare tire?"). Pergolizzi snapping the chain on Freddy Maerten's '81 World Championship Colnago (strong enuf for the Rainbow Jersey, but no match for the OD). Brian Baylis dissecting said Colnago ("See these chainstays? Track stays for a powerful sprinter, swaged down to fit the BB shell. And over here you can see---"). Paulie Davis with a gorgeous Richard Sachs AND a Della Santa that she both "stumbled into". (How come I can never find stuff like that?) Sitting at dinner between Jan Johnson, Bruce Gordon and Brian Baylis (I just shut up and listened) Thee climbs up L' Alpe du Bean Town (the coffe break at 16 miles on the Fri, Sat and Sunday rides. Near stroke on Friday, better on Sat and didn't even use lowest gear on Sunday!)

And finally, Chuck Schmidt smiling through it all, showing all of us a great time. I know I speak for everyone, Chuck, in expressing my warmest regards for your efforts. One of the best times I've ever had on a bike. I hope to come back soon.
