Here's a trick I've done occasionally: skip the glue at the section directly across from the valve. Gives an easy-to-remember place where it's relatively easy to grip, grasp, grunt, and make fast progress to getting the rest to let go. If it's years later and the glue has ossified, can still slip a dull flat blade through there to get things started.
