A lots of sweet memories! I was in Osaka area, Japan in High School time.
They (Japanese) paid 360 to 400 yen to deach dollar which made almost impossible to import any bike from overseas (mainly Europe), but they worked hard to improved their parts and bike frames to export to USA. Natinal (Panasonic) Bridgestone, Fuji, Hikari, Maruishi, many brand names were ther but no foreigh name excet "Cinelli", I had heard of it but never seen it.
I had a Sportsman brand made by Toei which was higher grade at that time. I bought Camapgnolo parts little by little, the chainring/crankset cost me a lot more than an avarage 10 speed bike at that time. I spend a 6 month part time pay working a local bike shop putting together Mazda bike with turn signal flashers!
Well. this plus so much time riding (a bit of amateur road racings) took my study in school and made me unacceptable to Japanese college/university standards. So, here I am settled down in foodhill of North Carolina, riding Dale Brown brand, Silk Hope and Raleigh Pro for fun! Well, I like the ride of Paramont right now.
What would I have done, IF I had had those fine bikes when I was 18???????
