They are NOT common. Sooooooooo exceedingly NOT common. N'est Pas?

700c old Old OLD label -CLINCHER- Mavic *RIMS* (consumable, highly, especially this vintage) in MINT condition from the *50's* - labels too!! Frankly, I'm not really surprised, and also in awe of this battle (and I mean that as highly complimentary). The bike these are going on must be *TREMENDOUS*. This reminds me of a valiant, winner-take-all, high stakes game of chance, where courage determines the winner. Very nice!

As an afficianado of Japanese culture, I understand, and I appreciate these collectors very much. CR list members should recall the discussion about how [generally] most Japanese collectors have a few REALLY nice items, rather than the large collections some American collectors choose to pursue. The example that comes to mind was a mint gullwing Mercedes, casually driven for a Friday night out in Tokyo. Frankly, I wish a few notable list members would re-evaluate the doctrine of QUALITY vs quantity. The Japanese also understand USING [certain] items [correctly] is part of the key to enjoying them. I hope this lesson is not lost on some here.

Well gosh, I've been in the French scene for a few years now, and if I recall correctly, I can't remember ever seeing a pair of these in 700c clincher. Lots of 650b, lots of tubular, but 700c clincher in great shape? Just can't recall.

And 700c clincher really isn't a bad combo either. The french made exotic hand made clinchers with tubular type casings (see the Rene Herse on ebay right now).

So my vote is that these rims really are that rare. For an early 700c randonneur machine with the right tires, it is a very nice combo.

And if I'm wrong, and if they are common, will someone please sell me some (for a fraction of the price please) as I could use a couple of pair.
