OK, one more.
I show up at the swap meet and there is a really nice set of Campy Con Denti pedals with a $5 price tag. I pay up, and go on my way. This was when they were fetching $400 or more pretty easily.
A few years later, the person who was selling the pedals shows up at my shop with an early mountain bike for sale - a nice Ritchey that I wanted. He wanted "too much" for it. Rather than negotiate, I just paid more than I thought I should and cosmic karma was restored.
But it works in reverse. Years ago I bought my first and last Schwinn middleweight bike - a hornet. I learned later that I really paid way too much.
A few years later I see a Legnano at veloswap being sold by the person I bought the Hornet from. It had the Campy logo saddle and other prime goodies. He sold it to me for $400 which even for veloswap was a silly low price - he probably could have sold it even at veloswap for $700 or $800. I underpaid on the Legnano about the right amount to balance the overpayment on the evil heavy Hornet.
Karma was restored, and I was happy.

\r?\n> It was sitting in someone's garage for who knows how many years unridden.
\r?\n> Now it looks fine and rides great! Wonderful bike.
