Italian frames. Looks like everyone has an old Italian frame of some kind or other, WELL maybe I DO have rare one!!!! No one, has given me any info on the
Vittoria frame that I have, frame #118045, looking at the # could it be a 1945??? and #118??? or could it be a 1954?? the head badge, is real nice, has Vittoria, made in Italy (IN English) also five Olympic rings and Fabrica di marca??? it is Red with Chrome lugs and fork ends and chain stay ends. has a boss on right siden down tube only, inside routed rear brake cables AND rear gear cable, has Vittoria in black block letters on down tube over five Olympic rings, the fork rake suggest to me 1950-1960 vintage?? The Red paint IS perfect as is the chrome, The# 118045 is stamped on the chrome seat lug, the lugs are not fancy but OK, could this be a frame made for export by one of the bigger builders in thoes days??? as before the #118045 SUGGEST?? this is frame #118 made in 1945 or 1954?? I have built the frame up with full Campy, Gran Sport rear gear,Campy Pista crankset with single ring,(maybe they used barcon(I
Have Campy), with a double ring??) Universal Center pull brakes, had a problem getting caliphers to fit, think it may have had 27" wheels NOT 700c it now has sew up or "Tubs" as we called them, it rides real fine, handles and climbs very well, I also have Cinelli Pista bars and stem!!! the bike looks great, maybe NOT the Cinelli or some such, with the big name, but this frame I think is something special, any comments??? Cheers John Crump OldBrit,Parker Co. PS I also have another Italian bike, 1980s Cambio Rino, PLUS FIVE OLD BRIT BIKES and a new Mercian on the way.
