Having difficulty following the nuances of the brake hoods discussion but it seems to me:

1. Campy has the right to control usage of their trademark. If you don't care about that, your ethics may need a tune-up.

2. Importers, distributors, and dealers WILL NOT sell brake hoods with unauthorized use of the Campy trademark.

3. There is a real need for reproduction hoods that DO NOT have a Campy trademark because Campy hoods wear out (and who wants to ride around without hoods?). This is the reason that many settle for Modolo or buy reproductions obtained from the distributor Euro Asia. If more hoods without the Campy trademark were available then the price would come down and there would be many more sources of supply (Euro Asia is notoriously difficult to deal with and services only a small number of bike shops).

4. Reproduction hoods with the Campy trademark available right now are a bad thing because it may be difficult to distinguish reproduction from original hoods leading to consumer ripoffs.
