i beleive herse used decals later on, near the end, after whoever it was that did the lettering died... could be wrong though. jan? fits with the later date on this bike - the "gentleman" model pictured in the 1970s herse catalogue, and the "champs-elysees" listed in the 1980s catalogue show this style bike, but without the porteur rack (though again, this porteur rack is the lightweight version, with braces to the middle of the fork blades rather than the dropouts)

oh, and scratch my photoshop comments on the china auction - he just nicked a picture from alex's yahoo album of this bike - the background photoshopping is actually on the *real* sellers auction. heh.
