Subject: [CR]info on Benotto Aero bike

I'm guessing this bike falls inside the '83 cutoff, if not just barely. If flagrant please respond offlist. Anyway, I dragged home an interesting Benotto this weekend. Although found in full wino regalia with a mix of cheap parts, great backyard repairs (like shifting cables mended with screws and nuts), and a horrifying mummie's wrap of bar-tape comprised of old inner tube-electrical tape-Velox-duct tape-more electrical tape, and the remnants of the original silver Benotto cello, once completely stripped revealed a pretty decent looking frame. Lugged with all main tubes going from round to very aero and aero seat stays. The fork has a flat crown with Benotto engraved in the top, the seat stay caps are engraved Benotto as well. Dropouts and fork tips are forged and marked Benotto. It takes a nutted style brake (which leads me to believe it's close to timeline). Small heart cutout in the BB. I've searched the archives and done a Google search but have not been able to find any info. Anybody know what parts would have come on this bike originally, type of tubing, and where it was built (Mexico?), etc.

Thanks in advance, Jon Williams
