Ray, I find the difficulties come in disassembling something that I did not assemble, usually due to lack of lube or anti-seize by previous party. That's when the big scary tools you'd rather not have near your bike come out! I always assume I'm the one who'll work on it next and use appropriate lube. A neat trick posted here or on BOB list was to lube threads on chainring bolts but apply a bit of valve grinding compound to nut where it seats in chainring and it usually holds without the tool.
