Subject: [CR]wtb: stainless steel gear housing

My big ol' Orange Cinelli rebuild project was just about finished ( so I can join the Wool Jersey Galley fun) and I hit a snag:

I can't find my (or anyone else's) stash of the good old fashioned stainless steel housing that we all used for Handlebar controls. What to do? I know I could use good plastic covered housing but we all know what a sin that would be!

I wanted to put the Cinelli back to the way I got it ( in that story I spun awhile back) and it came withhandlebar end controls. Please! Campagnolo! and they NEVER made "bar-cons". Only Suntour did, and let's not get into which was the better design. Sometime the wizards of Vicenza did things that no one, save Chuck, can properly explain.

Anyway, I sniffed around some and my problem is compounded by the sheer size of my bikes ( in this case 70 cms) and so I need about 2 meters worth. I always used to buy long rolls of the stuff, so length was never a problem. It seems in this day of ergo-shifting teflon-lining overdesign, no one makes the simple stuff I seek. Or do they?

Or does anyone have a stash they'll part with? I could use shorter pieces ( I can splice them to get the length I need as I always routed my cables up to the center under the bar tape. I never liked the "flop around" straight out way some riders installed them. It never occurred to me to suggest that handlebars would need the now prosaic indentation to hide the lump. I kind of liked the lump!

Thanks and thanks in advance for any leads.

And Happy Thanksgiving day, even for you overseas types.
