Harry Hill Royal Enfield pro on John Bull Safety Speed ratchet tread tyres breaks National 50 mile record in time of 1hr 44min 30secs November 1937. Course used Salsburgh by-pass Glasgow-Edinburgh road. 90" gear on 26" X 1 1/4" wired on tyres. John Bull finished sometime in the 60's think they are now part of the Michelin group.
