Well, for starters, the term "fenders" sets my teeth on edge! They are MUDGUARDS. And they properly belong on British bicycles. Preferably brittle, creamy Britannias (never was much for Bluemels as the Britannia manner of stay fixing is SO much better) with alloy stays. You know the ones our collector friends from the Orient have discovered and are paying in excess of $125 a pair for. And they don't even suit PX-10s.. what 's up with that? Anyway, I can't imagine kitting up a British lightweight with out 'guards. Although I admit I am tempted to try fitting my '48 RRA with a time trials look with sprint rims and no 'guards for a season. Whilst on

the subject, I was tearing along on my '49 Raleigh Clubman with Britannia 'guards a few years back and overtook a Litespeed whose rider suggested my

speed was being retarded by the "wind resistance" from the mudflap on the front mudguard. Wow.
