Peter and our English friends have a point, I think, about using mudguards on classic British bikes...I have them on my Woodrup and put them on my Raleigh in the winter...they look correct, are functional, and most important, the bikes have the fittings on the forks and stays to accommodate them. But what about on topic bikes that were never intended to use them? Grafting a Bluemels onto a Masi? It seems to me that what equipment and what purpose a bike was designed for determines the appropriateness of the equipment used on it. I'm still deciding if I'll add merd guards to the le Champion for the winter...no eyelets on the drop-outs, but for winter riding it seems to be a useful addition. Doug Wagner Richmond KY
